The Project of planting the trees, building the dams and broaden out the canal in responding to royal grace

Natural resources may be gone someday, but human’s need never end. In order to respond to their needs, they destructively consume natural resources. Simply saying that human truly catalyzes the global change in geography and environment.

 

Those changes finally is affecting human’s life and living. As a matter of fact, Global highly human-consumed natural resources have decreased. Natural resources in Thailand, as well, are decreasing. Forests are trespassing for economical-based agriculture, living. Trees are being cut off for commerce and wild animals are being hunted for food. Presently, there are only 25 percent of forest areas left in Thailand including limited quantity of water necessary for conserving ecologies and aquatic animals. While natural resources are decreasing rapidly, human demand in consuming natural resources, in contrast, keeps increasing.
Water resources development for plantation and irrigation is very important and useful works for the majority of Thai people who are working in agricultural sectors. His Majesty the King is tremendously interested in developing water resources as “Water is Life”.

According to Royal Speech at Chitralada Villa Royal Residence on March, 17th, 1986 that

“Principally, water is necessary for consuming and plantation because there are lives over there. If we have water we can survive. If we have no electricity we still can survive. But if we don’t have both water and electricity, we cannot survive.”

His Majesty the King has gave his royal initiated idea in water resources development throughout the country greater than 2,200 resources in order to help solving the lack of water for living of his people. Many Royal-Initiated water resources projects have been implemented ranging from a small project which is useful for a limited people to medium and large projects which are huge in construction areas and useful for people in a village, sub district, district. However, it does not matter of how many water resources we have, but the most important matter is how we manage those water resources.

In aware of the Royal-initiated concept above including with long time experience giving royal visits to Thai people with His Majesty the King, Her Majesty the Queen has deeply understand about those water-related problems. Her Majesty the Queen always conduct a research and development on how to rehabilitate the prosperity of natural resources; greenery plentiful, and bright with multi species of wild animals. According to Her Royal Initiated concept, Her Majesty the Queen has initiated the forest conservation in order to sustainably conserve the original sources of water.

 

According to Her Royal Speech on December, 20th, 1982 that
“The King is water; I will be a forest, a forest that is loyal to water”
Her Majesty the Queen has importantly focused that a forest is Nation’s natural resources. In Her Majesty the Queen’s sense, the forest does not mean only a big and tall tree, but instead, a small grass or tree is included as part of conservation. Her Majesty the Queen is working very diligent and very dedicated to be a role model for Thai people, so that Thai people will recognize and aware of their duties in protecting and conserving the nation’s natural resources which can be compared as the breath of all living thing on this planet.

 

Commander in Chief of Royal Thai Army has announced that the Year 2011 is “the Year of Royal Thai Army Development”. The projection and conservation of Nation’s natural resources and environment is one of the focusing areas. The focal point of this area is the sustainable water resources management and the rehabilitation of forest. Especially, in the Year 2011 and 2012, His majesty the King’s age will be the 7th round on November’ 5th, 2011 and Her Majesty the Queen’s age will be 80 years old on August, 12th, 2012.

   

Regarding those Royal Grand occasions, Directorate of Civil Affairs (DOCA), Royal Thai Army, has integratedly conceptualized the concept of conservation of natural resources, forest and environment by the mean of planting in degenerated forest, mangrove forest, water-originated forest, and being broaden out and dredging up natural water resources and Kam-Link Project in order to protect flood. This Royal Thai Army-Initiated activities in response to His and Her Majesty, is called “The Project of planting the trees, building the dams and broaden out the canal in responding to royal grace”.

   

The project’s time frame is between March to December 2012. The project will be implemented in the partnership style with other related governmental agencies both national and local levels. This partnership integration will enhance the project implementation swiftly, efficiently and effectively as specified in the project’s objectives.
